Our story

Every player deserves a pathway.

Ackworth Girls FC was established in 2019 to create football opportunities exclusively for females in our area. We have grown into one of the area's biggest all-female clubs, with a route from first kicks to senior football.

Being independent from a male club means sponsorship, subscriptions and donations are reinvested directly into the girls' game.

A club of our own

AGFC was founded to give girls and women in our area a football club built specifically for them. As an independent club, the support we receive is invested directly back into the girls’ game.

Every age

First kicks to open age

From Wildcats through every junior age group and into open-age football, qualified, age-related coaching gives every player room to develop and a pathway to follow.

Beyond playing

Creating future leaders

We want the girls’ game to grow in every direction. That means encouraging new female coaches and referees, and creating meaningful opportunities for volunteers throughout the club.

There are still too few dedicated female sports clubs offering a genuine pathway across every age group. AGFC exists to help change that locally: a club where players can begin, develop, compete and remain part of the game.

Our vision

Every player should receive qualified, age-appropriate coaching that helps her fulfil her potential. Where players want to progress further, we aim to help them find opportunities at a higher level while keeping AGFC a place they will always belong.

Development does not stop at playing. Our ambition is to help at least one new female coach and one new female referee qualify every season, creating role models and strengthening the future of the game.

Our football philosophy

Relationships and teamwork come first. We want players to learn together, support one another and understand that everybody contributes to the team. We work to avoid exclusion and make football accessible, positive and enjoyable.

That philosophy extends beyond matchday. Players, coaches, families and volunteers all have a part to play in creating a club the wider community can be proud of.

More than ninety minutes

Playing or volunteering offers valuable time away from the pressures of work, education and everyday life. The club provides a safe, social and supportive environment where people can switch off, connect and enjoy being part of something.

Team spirit creates friendships, confidence and skills that reach far beyond football. Families regularly see players blossom as they become more assured on the pitch, at school and with others.

An inclusive club brings people from different backgrounds, cultures and faiths together through a shared love of the game. We want every player and family to feel welcomed, respected and represented at AGFC.

Our volunteers make that possible. Their time, knowledge and encouragement allow the club to keep creating opportunities for girls and women throughout our community.
