Rory James Embling Foundation

The Rory James Embling Foundation was set up by the Embling family whos son Rory sadly passed away as a result of a sudden and dramatic arrhythmia to his heart at the age of 26. The foundation raises money to help reduce the frequency of sudden cardiac deaths in young people between 14 and 35 by providing heart screenings not freely available on the NHS. These events usually take place at the home of the Embling family and involve an army of volunteers including heart specialists drafted in from Jimmy’s Hospital, Leeds, to offer on the spot consultation and referrals and have been responsible for detecting dozens of underlying heart conditions which were treated with immediate effect.

AGFC are proud supporters of the Rory James Embling Foundation and have helped raise money over the years to provide heart screenings along with having many members of the club being screened also.

Sadly in December 2020, Chris Embling (father of Rory) passed away. It was Chris’ passion and persistence to have as many hearts screened as he could and help detect any underlying defects that could cause preventable deaths in young people. Chris’ initial target was to get to 1000 hearts screened which hopefully in 2021 we can help achieve this figure in his honour.
